Everyone should be able to use this website. Here is how we check it, and where it still falls short.

Our goal

This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement covers the website at sherbetapps.com, not the Sherbet app.

How we check it

  • Every page is tested with axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA at six screen widths, from 320 to 1440 pixels.
  • Text contrast in the home page demo and in the menu bars that stay at the top of the home page is measured on the rendered pixels, each bar over the brightest background that can scroll under it.
  • The interactive demo on the home page is walked with the keyboard: every control can be reached and used, and shows where the focus is.
  • With Reduce Motion on, the animations stop. Without it, every looping decoration ends within five seconds, and the home page demo stops as soon as you press a key, click or scroll.
  • Text spacing can be increased as WCAG 1.4.12 describes without a link or button losing its text or the page scrolling sideways, at every width tested.
  • These checks run in a Chrome engine.

Known limits

  • On a phone-sized screen, keyboard focus on the home page reaches the interactive demo out of its visual order: it moves past the demo and then comes back to it.
  • Screen readers are checked by hand, not by the automated tests above, and that work is ongoing.
